The Washing and Drying Song
Almost but not quite to the "Captain Pugwash" theme.
Chorus
I love to sing songs of the washing and drying,
I'll sing of this stuff 'til the day I am dying.
I must reassure you that I am not lying,
I love to sing songs of the washing and drying!
Verse 1
Oh in goes the water and in go the dishes
All covered with what once considered delicious.
The waters soon dirty, it's not fit for fishes,
But I know sev'ral plants that would find it nutritous!
Verse 2
Oh when you are washing and you're in a rush
You'll probably only dislodge half the mush,
But when you are thorough and scrub with a brush
Your plates will be cleaner and brighter and such!
Verse 3
If theres someone whose parents you want in you trusting,
Though your house may be neat and your car be non-rusting
Despite all your cleaning and wiping and dusting,
It will all be for naught if your plates are disgusting!
Verse 4
Though washing and drying's a fun thing to do,
It can be a little bit lonely it's true.
So don't take dates to movies or out to the zoo,
A plates that much cleaner when it's washed by two!
This song (chorus and first verse) spontataneously popped into my head while I was putting washing up
away in about 1994, and the later verses followed over about the next year.
I and Pavla sang it to our year 11 Physics teacher Mr Rennie, he was quite bemused.
And no, I don't actually like doing the dishes.
Back to the sink, into the art gallery or along the scenic route.
